SOME
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

YOUR DAY
The Sculptor's Attitude
I woke up
early today, excited over all I get to do
before the clock strikes midnight.
I have responsibilities to fulfill today.
I am important.
My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.
Today I can
complain because the weather is rainy or...
I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can
feel sad that I don't have more money or...
I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my
purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.
Today I can
grumble about my health or ...
I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can
lament over all that my parents didn't give me
when I was growing up or ...I can feel grateful
that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can
cry because roses have thorns or ...
I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can
mourn my lack of friends or ...
I can excitedly embark upon a quest
to discover new relationships.
Today I can
whine because I have to go to work or ...
I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today I can
complain because I have to go to school or ...
eagerly open my mind and fill it
with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can
murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework
or I can feel honored because the Lord has provided
shelter for my mind, body and soul.
Today
stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped.
And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today
will be like is up to me.
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Just for Today
Just for Today
Decide to be happy today,
to live with what is yours
your family,
your business,
your job,
your luck.
If you can't have what you like,
maybe you can like what you have.
Just for today,
be kind,
cheerful,
agreeable,
responsive
caring,
and understanding.
Be your best,
dress your best,
talk softly,
and look for
the bright side of things.
Praise people for what they do and
do not criticize them
for what they cannot do.
If someone does something stupid,
forgive and forget.
After all,
it's just for one day.
Who knows,
it might turn out to be
a nice day.

May the
faith that gives us hope,
May the love that shows the way,
May the peace that cheers the heart
Be yours this day.

Anyone can
carry his burden,
however hard, until nightfall.
Anyone can do his work,
however hard, for one day.
Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly,
purely till the sun goes down.
And this is all that life really means.
Robert Louis
Stevenson
Think of Those Who Love You
If someone
should hurt you
and say a thing unkind,
Remember what I write to you,
and keep these thoughts in mind.
For
everyone that makes you cry,
there are three to make you smile,
And a smile will last a long, long time,
but a tear just a little while.
Don't let
someone who hates the world
cause you to hate it too,
Behind the clouds is a golden sun,
and a sky that's full of blue.
If someone
said a thing that's cruel,
don't let it get to you,
Your achievements are greatly numbered,
and your faults are very few.
If someone
should hurt you
And should act a certain way,
Just think of those who love you.
And, DON'T LET IT RUIN YOUR DAY !

Today
Today is mine.
It is unique.
Nobody in the world has one exactly like it.
It holds the sum of all my past experiences and all my future potentials.
I can fill it with joyous moments or ruin it with fruitless worry.
If painful recollections of the past come into my mind,
or frightening thoughts of the future,
I can put them away.
They cannot spoil today for me.
You Better Slow Down
Have you
ever watched kids on a merry-go-round,
or listened to rain slapping the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight,
or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better
slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly,
When you ask "How are you?", do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better
slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.
Ever told
your child, we'll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die,
'cause you never had time to call and say "hi"?
You better
slow down,
don't dance so fast, time is short,
the music won't last.
When you
run so fast to get somewhere,
you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
it's like an unopened gift thrown away.
Life is not
a race, so take it slower,
hear the music before the song is over.
